MILWAUKEE, WI – The NY2LA Sports Swish ‘N Dish has become a spring staple for teams in the Midwest. This time around was no exception, as the event hosted many of the region’s top travel organizations, and delivered on its reputation as a stage for previewing elite prospects.

There were plenty players capable of lighting up the scoreboard among the Class of 2021 prospects in attendance, but only a handful of them made the cut in this segment, as we recap the top scoring guards from the weekend in Wisconsin…

Ahmad Bynum proved to be a key cog for a loaded Mac Irvin Fire backcourt during the NY2LA Sports Swish ‘N Dish and deserves recognition for his outstanding weekend performances. On a roster filled with prospects ready to make their introduction to the Chicago high school hoops scene in the coming years, Bynum is stronger and more aggressive than most of his counterparts, and showed scoring tools at all three levels. He’ll need to focus on limiting his turnovers, as well as being more effective choosing his opportunities to score, but there are mistakes coaches will have to live with when you have a player that can put the ball in the basket such as Bynum.

George Jackson will likely head to Minnesota hoops powerhouse, Hopkins High School, this fall but in the meantime he’s busy attempting to earn national attention with Team 1 Tyus on the travel circuit. During the NY2LA Sports Swish ‘N Dish, Jackson showed maximum effort, scoring not only on strong drives to the basket but also on second chance opportunities around the rim. As he develops his game off the bounce, Jackson is a name to remember from The Gopher State, in the Class of 2021.

Kyle Kelley turned heads with his play for Martin Brothers Elite at the NY2LA Sports Swish ‘N Dish. The Iowa product is not exceptionally quick or explosive, but has an effective outside jumper, and the handle necessary to run his club’s offense. A lanky combo guard, Kelley brought energy and toughness to his team, and his size advantage equates to him being one of the more versatile backcourt players in the state of Iowa at this stage.

Anthony Sayles was the leading scorer in the eighth grade division of the NY2LA Sports Swish ‘N Dish. A scoring guard with great instincts and feel, Sayles posted three consecutive games of more than 20 points, leading All In Athletics into the quarterfinal before falling to the eventual champions. An advanced finisher around the rim, Sayles displayed remarkable body control in the lane, and demonstrated an effective jumper as well. He’s currently one of the most talented scorers in the Midwest from the Class of 2021 and the development of his physical tools will be closely monitored.

Quincy Wiseman had flashes of high-level play for his Iowa Barnstormers team. In a crowded backcourt, Wiseman demonstrated an excellent first step, and the ability to penetrate the lane off the dribble. His playmaking and scoring tools are still rounding into form, but his length is an asset on the defensive side of the ball, and Wiseman always seemed to be around and involved in the action. He’s an intriguing prospect, and the thought is that his game will continue to develop, and his confidence will follow.
